The experience
What to expect
Volunteering with MIWA is hands-on and community-embedded. You will work alongside MIWA programme staff and local community partners — not above them. Our ethos is solidarity, not charity, and we expect volunteers to reflect that.
Before deployment, all volunteers attend a short orientation covering MIWA's mission, our community protocols, and the specific programme you will support. Field volunteers are supervised and supported throughout.
We are flexible on duration. Short-term placements (one week and above) and longer-term commitments are both welcome. Remote support roles are also available for those who cannot travel to our programme communities.
Who can apply
Eligibility
- Open to all adults (18+) regardless of nationality or professional background
- Field roles require the ability to travel to our programme communities in Ghana
- Remote roles available for skills in communications, design, research, and admin
- Professional credentials welcome but not required — passion and reliability matter most
- MIWA does not accept volunteers who carry a political affiliation into programme work
